Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to set up an appointment to visit your showroom?

Walk-ins are welcome, and we encourage you to browse our showrooms to gather ideas for your project, but we highly recommend setting up an appointment with one of our showroom staff. Appointments allow us enough one-on-one time with our customers to solely focus on their project and make sure every detail is addressed.

What should I expect for my appointment? Is there anything I should bring?

Every customer and project is different, so the length and nature of an appointment can vary. During the appointment, your showroom designer will help you navigate our large tile selection to find the best tile for you. However, we find it helpful for customers to get ideas of what they like by looking at pictures via Houzz, Pinterest, or Instagram.

We ask that you bring anything that may be relevant to your project. This would include pictures, paint samples, floor plans, countertop samples and hardwood or carpet samples. Although not required, they can be helpful in narrowing down a selection.

Can I check out samples from your showrooms?

Yes, we allow customers to check out samples for up to 3 days. We think it is important seeing tiles in your own space since color is greatly affected by different lights and spaces.

I am ready to purchase my tile. What do I do now?

When ready to purchase your tile, contact your sales person by either stopping in the store or giving them a call. They will walk you through the ordering process at that time. Make sure to know all the square footages and setting materials you will need before ordering. If you do not have a salesperson, any one of our staff will be happy to help you.

When will I know if my order is ready to pick up?

A Clayton Tile staff member will call when your tile order is ready for pickup. When placing an order, make sure to provide the best phone number to reach you.

What is your return policy?

All tile and setting materials currently stocked in one of our four locations can be returned within a 30 day period as long as they in good condition and/or unopened. All special-order tiles are non-returnable with no exceptions. If you are unsure if a tile is stocked or special-order, please do not hesitate to ask a Clayton Tile staff member.

How long do you keep my tile selections on file?

We keep selections on file for two years unless otherwise noted.

Do you offer installation?

We do not install however we have an extensive list of professional tile installers that we will be happy to recommend based on the scope of your project.

How do I clean my tile?

Cleaning methods depend on the type of tile installed. We sell several cleaning products designed to match specific needs for natural stones, ceramic and porcelain tile. Contact any of our contract-counter staff and they will be happy to point you in the right direction.

As a rule, natural stones (marble, travertine, slate, limestone) are most susceptible to damage from cleaning incorrectly due to their porous nature. It is important to use a pH neutral cleaning solution when cleaning any natural stone.

Ceramic and porcelain tile can be cleaned with a wider range of cleaning products as they are more durable and less impervious. However, a mild detergent and water is always the safest and most effective everyday cleaning method.
